About us

The Name

Self Issued isn't a document you're given. It's one you write.

Every stamp, every seal, every mark of authority in history has told us who we are according to somebody else — a title issued by an institution, an identity issued by a system. This brand exists in the opposite direction. Here, the authority is yours. The story is yours. You are the one who issues it.

That's the whole idea folded into two words: **you're not waiting on anyone's approval to become who you're becoming.** Growth isn't a straight line, and neither is self-discovery — it's drafts, revisions, reinventions. Self Issued is the wardrobe for that process. For the version of you right now, and the version you're still writing.

The DNA

Self Issued lives at the collision of two things that aren't supposed to sit together: the rawness of the street and the weight of old-world luxury. We call it **Elevated Street-Opulence** — oversized silhouettes with the drape and presence of a uniform, extreme textures that reward a second look, and a palette pulled from somewhere older than fashion: wine red and golden yellow set against vintage indigo and cream.

The visual language borrows from things that were built to last and built to mean something — antique currency, banknote engraving, Victorian ornamental flourish, wax seals, gold foil catching light. These aren't decoration. They're the aesthetic of authentication — the visual grammar of things that certify themselves as real. It's the same instinct as the name: nothing here is asking permission to be taken seriously.

The result is clothing that feels excavated as much as designed — pieces that could pass as an heirloom and a uniform for a movement that hasn't been named yet.

Why I Started This

I started Self Issued for a few reasons that all point the same direction.

The first is honest and simple: I didn't see the version of streetwear I wanted to exist yet. Most of what's out there picks a lane — street or luxury, raw or refined — and I wanted both, sitting in the same piece, arguing with each other a little.

The second is personal. This brand came out of my own reinvention — figuring out who I was becoming and realizing that the clearest way to say it, some days, is what you put on your body. Self Issued started as me issuing my own story back to myself. The brand is that same permission, made wearable, made for anyone else in the middle of becoming.

And the third is bigger than me. There's something powerful about a brand that centers Black excellence and puts that at the front of the frame — not as a footnote, but as the whole picture. Every campaign, every image, every piece we put out carries that intention forward.

What You're Wearing

When you put on Self Issued, you're not just wearing a hoodie or a piece from the line. You're wearing a document — one you signed yourself. A record of where you are right now, and proof that you got here on your own terms.

Nobody issued you. You issued you.

**Self Issued.**
